6. Terms of employment
The CAO NU (Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities) applies to all universities in the Netherlands. This sets out the terms of employment for staff of Dutch universities. In addition to the CAO NU terms of employment, the University of Amsterdam also has its own regulations and schemes.
Collective labour agreement
Employees employed by the UvA are covered by the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities. Read more about the CAO and the supplementary regulations.
Other conditions
If you work at the UvA as a temporary employee, seconded employee or on-call employee, other arrangements apply. Discuss which terms of employment apply with your manager.
Travel expenses
As an employee you can apply for an allowance to cover part of your travel-to-work expenses. There are also schemes for official travel.
Insurance
As an employee you are insured at and around your place of work at the UvA. Furthermore the UvA has concluded agreements with a number of insurance providers for advantageous packages.
